Why you need a Vision statement?

Your vision statement is the Northern Star that gives direction to your life and business journey as a solopreneur.

⮕ It helps you find the difference you want to make - the impact you want to have.

⮕ It helps you tell others what you stand for and build your community.

⮕ It helps you define the scope and value of your business.

⮕ It give inspiration and direction to your journey as a solopreneur

What is a Vision Statement?

Your vision statement should answer these questions:

  1. What is the one non-negotiable aspect of my life that I want to protect?

  2. What Big Challenge do you want to solve?

  3. What is Your Motivation for taking on that Challenge?

  4. What change do you want to see? what impact do you want to have on the world?

  5. How do you see yourself contributing to this change? (What will you do to make it better).

Here is an Example

Here is the example of my Vision Statement:

The Non Negotiable Aspect of My Life I want to Protect:

“I love traveling and would like to adopt a lifestyle that allows me to explore the world.”

The Big Challenge I want to Solve:

“I want to address the challenge of helping people that are going to lose their jobs due to AI and automation.”

What is the Motivation for taking on that Challenge:

I watched my parents struggle after losing their jobs to automation, and I don't want others to face the same hardship.

The Change I want to see:

“I envision a world where starting and growing a solo online business is accessible to everyone.”

How do I see myself contributing to this change:

I would like to run online programs that help workers who lost their jobs get the skills and the resources they need to run their own AI-powered businesses.

Your Turn….Create Your Own Vision Statement

So, are you ready to create your vision statement?

Here are actions you can take right now:

👉 Block out 20 minutes for a 'vision session'. Find a quiet place, bring a journal, and start working through the questions we've discussed.

👉 Answer each question as best as you can.

Copy this prompt and put it into ChatGPPT and answer the question it ask you.

Vision Statement PROMPT

" You are an expert coach specializing in helping solopreneurs create clear and inspiring vision statements. Your task is to guide users through the process of crafting their vision statement in a friendly, encouraging manner. Follow these steps:

Ask the following questions one at a time, waiting for the user's response before moving to the next: a. What is the one non-negotiable aspect of your life that you want to protect? b. What Big Challenge do you want to solve? c. What is Your Motivation for taking on that Challenge? d. What change do you want to see? What impact do you want to have on the world? e. How do you see yourself contributing to this change? (What do you want to do? f. To benefit whom?

Once all questions are answered, immediately summarize the key points from the user's responses.

Using the information provided, immediately craft a draft vision statement following this structure: "Protecting [a. NON-NEGOTIABLE ASPECT OF LIFE] is essential to me. I am passionate about solving [b. BIG CHALLENGE] because [c. PERSONAL REASON/MOTIVATION]. I envision a world where [d. DESIRED CHANGE]. My mission is to [e. YOUR CONTRIBUTION (HOW)] for [f. TARGET AUDIENCE (WHO)]"

Present the draft vision statement to the user and ask for their feedback.

Based on their feedback, refine the statement if needed. Offer suggestions for improvements if the user is unsure.

Once the user is satisfied, congratulate them on creating their vision statement. "

Once you have created a draft vision statement, share it with at least three people you trust. Ask for their honest feedback. What resonates with them? What doesn't? Use their input to refine your vision.

How Do You Use Your Vision Statement?

🧭 Use your Vision Statement as a guide to decide on your next steps.

Ask yourself:

What specific steps can I take to ensure that you move closer to the lifestyle you dream of while pursuing my vision?

What skills do I already have that will help me move towards the vision I have just set for myself? What is the most urgent skill I need to develop to accelerate my path towards that vision?

For example, let's consider the scenario of running online programs that help workers who have lost their jobs acquire the skills and resources they need to run their own AI-powered businesses.

If I'm already a teacher or coach, I could build on skills I already have, such as learning experience design.

On the other hand, if I want to help people start their AI-powered businesses, I might need to develop the skill of prompting AI effectively.

🔥 Add your Vision Statement to your LinkedIn bio.

Enhance your LinkedIn short bio profile:

Include a condensed version of your vision statement in your LinkedIn bio or headline. This immediately communicates your purpose to those who view your profile. It can help you stand out and attract opportunities that align with your goals.

For example, you might adapt your LinkedIn headline to something like:

Empowering non-tech entrepreneurs to build thriving online businesses via No-code AI. | Mission: 100,000 solopreneurs living life on their terms by 2030

This uses your vision statement to make your LinkedIn profile more impactful and aligned with your life and business goals. It's a great way to broadcast your vision to and build your community of like-minded peers and professionals.

Remember, your vision statement is uniquely yours. It should excite you, challenge you, and inspire you to leap out of bed every morning, ready to make it a reality.
